Dear Parents & Carers

Our Christmas Lunch will take place on Wednesday 13th December and this will be the only meal choice available on that day. PLEASE refer to our website Calendar for more detailed information about our forthcoming events, including Christmas activities.

Our year 5 Christmas Nativity production will take place on Tuesday 19th December and will run for approximately 45 minutes. Tickets are now on sale and due to limited space in the hall we can only invite year 5 families. Further details can be found in the Calendar section of the website and a copy of the letter can be found in the Letters section.

As a school community we have recently decided that we would like to support the local charity, Blyth Food Bank. During a recent assembly, the Reverend Tracy spoke to staff and pupils about the work done to support local families and individuals. If you would like more information about this, or would like to make a donation, further details will be posted in our Parent Information section in due course. Thank you.

A big thank you to everyone who came along to our Christmas Fair last Thursday. Our current fundraising total is a fantastic £1,447!! Your support and generosity, as always, is very much appreciated. These events would not be as successful without your support. We still have a number of unclaimed raffle prizes from the fair. Please check your tickets against the list below and if you have won a prize, please contact the school office. Please bring your winning ticket with you when you collect your prize; if your prize contains alcohol, it will need to be collected by an adult.

White 135 - Lynx toiletries

Yellow 238 - Miniature Jack Daniels set
Yellow 378 - St Tropez set

Pink 183 - slippers (size 5)

School Gateway - in conjunction with the letters sent home last week with your child regarding improvements to our home/school communications and our new biometric payment system, we have created a new section heading - located on our website home page. Please visit this section, which includes a link to Astley Community High School, for further information. Thank you.

Pupils who attend after school clubs and are taken home by taxi will be dropped off in their home street. This is our normal procedure when it's dark before pupils leave school.

If your child needs to take any medication (prescription/over the counter), please call in to the school office and complete our medication dispensing form BEFORE sending any treatment in with your child. ALL medication (including inhalers) should be clearly labelled with your child's name AND within its expiry date.

Under certain circumstances it may be necessary to contact you urgently to pass on information about your child or an incident within school. It is therefore essential that we have the most up to date contact details available for our parents, carers, or nominated 'first contact'. If you have changed your contact details since July 2017 and you think we may have not been informed, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can make any necessary amendments. A copy of our pupil data sheet is available on our website under Parent Information - Forms, should you wish to print it off and send it in to school with your child.

We have also had an increase in the amount of unclaimed lost property, most of which is not named. This makes it more difficult to reunite items with their owners. Could you please ensure that all items of uniform, including P.E. kit, are clearly marked with your child's name.

If your child is absent from school at any time, please ask them to come to the office on their return for a copy of any letters they may have missed. Thank you.
